About Me

Hello, I'm John Perkin. I'm the sole operator of Blue Cow Cables. I started Blue Cow Cable to fill the gap in a market providing better cabling for production mixers and other areas in audio which can benefit from ENG standard cabling.

While in my second year at University I discovered an old slightly battered SQN 4S IVe for which was later told the cables had long since been lost or destroyed. I tried to find answers on how to use it and why what some specific function were and how they were used, nobody really seemed to know. This lead my down a new path of discovery, education and skills development.

After quickly learning the advantages of having custom bespoke cables, and needing to further myself into production sound, I created Blue Cow Cables to try and make myself an invaluable assist to production sound and the people in production sound.

I'm now a National Film and Television School (NFTS) Student, Associated of Motion Picture Sound Member (AMPS) and Institute of Broadcast Sound (IBS) Member.

I'm also a full member of Bectu.

I'm open to challenges and I'm frequently asked to build/invent things to fit the customers requirements, this is alongside continually developing things of my own original invention or reinvention.

I'm also availiable for on set/location work.

Why I joined Bectu

If care about your place this industry (which I'm sure you do), you should be a member too.

Saying the Unions were too strong is like saying you'd like the wall which holds back the water to be a bit weaker. Lets rebuild that wall - because most of us are all soaking wet and strugging to breath, then our biggest worry will only be OFCOM.
